Irish Symposium P25

Irish Pharmacology at BPS P25 Belfast December 2025

The Irish Association of Pharmacologists (IAP) is pleased to participate in the British Pharmacological Society (BPS) Pharmacology 2025 (P25) Conference, taking place in Belfast on Thursday, 18th December 2025.

This year marks a significant milestone: the first time that Irish pharmacology is being formally represented by the British Pharmacological Society on the island of Ireland. In collaboration with BPS, the IAP is proud to contribute an inaugural symposium showcasing the strength, diversity, and impact of pharmacological research conducted across Ireland.

“Targeting Metabolic and Inflammatory Drivers of Age-related Chronic Diseases: Advances in Pharmacology”
Thursday, 18 December 2025 | 13:00–14:45

This dedicated session has been carefully designed to highlight cutting-edge basic and clinical pharmacology research addressing the growing burden of age-related chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disease, cancer, neurodegeneration, and metabolic disorders.

With ageing populations worldwide, understanding and targeting the underlying biological drivers of chronic disease, such as dyslipidaemia, dysglycaemia, gut health imbalance, and chronic inflammation, has never been more important. The symposium will explore how advances in pharmacology are enabling new therapeutic strategies, from precision medicine and novel drug targets to integrative approaches that consider genetics, lifestyle, and immune modulation.

The session brings together leading Irish researchers, international expertise, and early-career scientists, providing a platform for scientific exchange, collaboration, and future innovation. It reflects the IAP’s commitment to promoting pharmacology as a cornerstone of healthcare advancement and translational research.
